GLASS TEARS

The photo above is called “Glass tears” taken by one of my favorite photography artist Man Ray.i picked interest in his work during one of my art modules in college.i had to analyze/critic the photo and i enjoyed doing it so much i thought i should share.

My first thought looking at this photo was “Nature”.if you look closely, you would see the end of her eyelashes looks like the anther of a flower and i thought this to represent femininity at the same time reflect on the feeling of nature and beauty. The far gaze in her eyes ,Beautiful! Tears usually represents sadness or pain but in the context of this photo i related it morning dew.The tears looked much more shaped and carefully placed than usual and that is why i thought if the eyelash looked like flower anther, then the “Glass Tears” might as well be morning dew.Well of course that’s only my opinion so don’t take my word for it.

What i found most interesting though was that the model was actually a mannequin!i was impressed at how lifelike Man Ray made it look.Truly inspirational to me and his work gave me a whole new look to the art of Photography ;-).

I would love to hear what you guys think of course so feel free to leave your comments! cheers x

NETWORKED PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT

Kaleidoscope

“The world is your kaleidoscope, and the varying combinations of colors
which at every succeeding moment are the exquisitely adjusted
pictures of your ever-moving thoughts!”
– James Allen

The inspiration behind my photography project comes from my favorite season of the year, which is SUMMER! It is interesting how much color speaks and how colors are used to represent different things on a daily basis.Skipping color representation/semiotics, i decided to capture those things that add a bit of color to my life.Color is found in different textures and/or different kinds of things. It is found in materials,Nature, chemical composition etc!we are therefore surrounded by colors. Below are a collection of photographs i took, all found in different textures and nature of things..

The purest and most thoughtful minds
are those which love color the most.
– John Ruskin

A splash of colour

Why do two colors, put one next to the other, sing?
Can one really explain this? No.
– Pablo Picasso

The above quote from the famous painter speaks to me on a relate-able level. He tries to say that the vibrancy colors provide cannot be explained and i strongly agree. Its amazing how much color can change the look of things and its indeed in-explainable why it can add life to an environment and/or person. Needless to say,we all need to create our own Kaleidoscope because whats a world without color!!? BORING ;-(
